High Tea and Salt Cave kind of Day

High Tea and Salt Cave kind of Day

Having been raised in England (part of my childhood) High tea plays an important role in my daily/ weekly schedule with my family and friends. No wonder I don’t drink coffee, I’m loyal to my tea!

So I decided to take you to one of my favourite hotel where I live in Yorkville to enjoy an afternoon with a girlfriend, a perfect place to retire after a whole day of shopping in Bloor- Yorkville.

Windsor Arms Hotel holds so much history dating back since it was built in 1927. The building with its Neo-Gothic exterior makes me so excited to get to know it better. I feel like I was back home in England, a little piece of home away from home. Oh and did I mention they have the most loveliest Tea Rooms!?

We went for the High Tea at 3:30pm with 2 hours of seating, I recommend to do a reservation at

18 St. Thomas Street
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
M5S 3E7

Reservation Number: 416-971-9666

I also chose to wear this beautiful dress from DEZZAL who delivered it really fast and the quality is spectacular. I got a lot of compliments from this dress!

Dress: Mandarin Collar Embroidered dress

I was greeted by the most popular guy in this block ( People actually comes up to him and ask to have a photo with him and the historical building as the background)

Windsor Arms-50

As soon as we walked in to the tea room I can’t help but fall in love with this green room! I thought I was in Europe for a moment.

and the beautiful tea sets! How I miss my mum’s tea set back home in England.

We were seated in the purple room! Which had the original working fireplace of the building from 1927.

And some of the most delicious dessert to finish or bring home.

I ordered my favorite tea : (I always get this one wherever I go and who has this available!)

Once Upon a Tea

Chocolate Bits, Vanilla, Fruit Blend, Organic Mint & Organic Rooibos

with lots of milk or cream and two sugars. (just what the doctor ordered)

See what it does? It makes your heart happy and tea is better than coffee!

Windsor Arms-24

My Friend Serena ordered:

Passion & Envy

Passion Fruit

Windsor Arms-35

together we laughed and talked about things about Photography ( ate all the scones right away too!), She also has the same passion as me when it comes to taking photos. Hence an over 500 shots in my dslr!

We also ate the goat cheese tart right away because I think it’s one of the best thing in their menu! and our server advised to eat right away before anything else as it’s just got out of the oven.

and back to scones again.

Windsor Arms-47

devonshire cream and fresh berry jam

Windsor Arms-67

Serena is such a nice company she always tries to make me laugh with all her small antics. I wish i can show her right away but I’d like to keep her as a mystery for now as she takes the most gorgeous photos and I’d like to keep her just for me (for now).

Windsor Arms-68

And back to business, we actually overstayed our 2 hour time period as we keep chatting and yes we took so much photos! That’s the fun part of it.  We even made it time for the Twilight tea time at 5:30pm

Windsor Arms-70

Tea hours are :

Traditional Tea :

Daily – 12:30 pm / 1:00 pm / 3:00 pm / 3:30 pm

Twilight Tea :
Daily – 5:30pm / 6:00pm

(ALL SEATINGS ARE A MAXIMUM OF 2 HOURS)

After a fun filled tea time it was time to head up to the Spa to enjoy the Salt Cave which is one of the most popular spa treatment in Windsor Arms Hotel.

Windsor Arms-102

you also get to use the heated salt pool with a fireplace which is so ideal for the cold months it comes included with a massage treatment package for free or anything over $115 . You can also just come to the spa and pay $35 for a day pass to use the amenities of the hotel without any treatments, They have the relaxing heated salt pool, sauna, gym and a beautiful private patio where you can get your tan on!

Windsor Arms-104

Salt cave treatment is best for people who needs to relax and take all the fresh air from the himalayan salt. I really recommend this treatment for people who smoke cigarettes, expose to daily harmful air pollution from cars and well, the downtown living.

Studies also have shown that regular treatments may improve the following conditions: Respiratory ailments & lung function (incl. bronchitis, emphysema & asthma), skin conditions (incl. psoriasis, eczema & acne), allergies, sinusitis & ear infections, Cystic Fibrosis, improve blood circulation & lower blood pressure, strengthen immune system & protect against respiratory viruses (incl. the common cold and flu) as well as reduce stress (which  is my most concern!)

Windsor Arms-105

Windsor Arms-112

You will be required to take all your clothes off and use only the robe inside the room.

Windsor Arms-107

Windsor Arms-110

you get to relax and sleep for 45 minutes.

Windsor Arms-113

and get cozy as one of the attendant at the spa will tuck you in with the cozy Holt Renfrew blanket.

Windsor Arms-114

You will have to leave any gadget outside, in your locker and yes including your phone and camera for 45 minutes before they start the machine releasing the purest clean air. Just enough time for yourself to rehabilitate, find your inner peace and make sure to practice your breathing.

Well Serena and I got to know more about each other with all the time we had. We realized how much time is 45 minutes without the distraction of internet, cellphone and social media.

Windsor Arms-115

After 45 minutes we decided to stay for another more 10 minutes to enjoy the freedom being away our gadget, Sometimes in our daily grind in this busy and socially connected world , moments like these are priceless!

After the relaxing treatment we stayed a little bit more longer at the private patio of the spa to enjoy the sunset around 8pm which reminds us that fall is coming soon.

And it was time to go home and retire in our own bed.

Windsor Arms-76

Truly, moments like this needs to be treasured! An alone time for yourself or with a girlfriend is such a rewarding experience to give yourself. Whether you are married, with kids, or tied up with work, you need this kind of days as a women, so you can start all over again, be inspired and be excited for what’s to come tomorrow.

How about you What inspires you? or your favorite thing to do on your alone time?

Wow, this looks like such an elegant place for tea. You know, being an American, I really admire this tradition you have because we, especially from the east coast, specifically New York, don’t know how to relax and enjoy moments like this. We’re always on the go and usually with a cup of coffee in hand. That said, I’ve never really gotten into tea before, but I’m so open to experiencing something like Windsor Arms! Your dress looks so lovely, no wonder you received so many compliments! It’s so unique and looks so good on you. Plus, you’ve styled it so well with the blue Prada (obsessed) purse and red flats.; you look stunning! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!
