Faure Requiem – A night with an Orchestra

Faure Requiem – A night with an Orchestra

It’s been awhile since I listened to a good music and no I’m not talking about Apple Music nor Spotify. I’m talking about a good Orchestra that makes everything else sound so heavenly. The last show I have seen was back when I was in London.

I was invited by a good friend of mine Krizia to tag along with her. The Show was consists of two parts, Each one hour long and drinks during the 10 minutes break ( The tipsier you are the better the music flows in your head – Do not quote me on this one! lol).

Also Remember, When going to a performance, the music IS the entire focus, giving you the ability to completely immerse yourself.

Also, watching the players perform, and hearing the true acoustics of the instruments, just draws me into the music so much more. And that’s MAGIC…..

Naturally, I couldn’t find any colour fitting the occasion and the weather but to wear all Black and silver shoes just enough to have a sparkly.

I was surprised to see a lot of people come to watch the performance. And no not just Old people as others would think, even younger generation is present. Everyone in their best behaviour to not make any sound to distract the performers.

French composer Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem—in a chamber orchestra setting of this text—highlights this program of inspiring and uplifting music. Acclaimed Canadian baritone Russell Braun sings Brahms’s deeply-moving Four Serious Songs, in a beautiful version with original preludes and orchestration by Detlev Glanert, and Montreal composer Samy Moussa’s celebratory work opens the concert.

After the first half, we changed our seat as the one sitting above me keeps complaining that I’m disturbing them with my phone as I keep sneaking in videos for my Instagram stories. Tho I don’t know why. I wasn’t screaming or talking on this snaps so I don’t know why I’m disturbing them. I was just documenting it. haha, It almost came to a point that I would hold my breath so I won’t make any sound. Honestly, he was making me utterly uncomfortable, Hence the big move is a must and I landed to the best seat in the Hall.

As soon as we found our new spot the Choir started singing and it was like heaven on Earth, It was so beautiful.

I couldn’t believe the two hours was already done. I wanted to hear more.

The show was ofcourse, a standing ovation.

After 2 hours of music appreciation and silence. It was time to hunt for some food and drinks and talk about the music (not)….

We found a Mexican joint across the Royal Thompson Hall equipt with guacamole and chips with a side of Margaritas and Sangria.

Krizia is still in the Uni so basically we spent the rest of the night talking about School and gossip with a slice of boys. Lol, She’s on her last year and off to London to attend her Master’s Degree in King College. I know…. that is some serious goals.

We ended the night with a promise to watch more Orchestra together.

What a fantastic experience! I grew up going to the orchestra but haven’t been in many years. This really made me want to go!

  2. February 10, 2017 / 10:51 pm

Wow, what a pretty venue and the orchestra is so intimate. I can see why you would want to share this experience with everyone on your stories. I guess some people just don’t want to be disturbed by others using the phone. Hehe. I love the chic all black look and your pumps. I could always go for chips and guacamole after an event like this. Hope you had a blast! xoxo, Christine

This makes me want to go to a concert sometime soon! My parent’s used to take me when I was kid and I used to dread it, but I have more of an appreciation for those experiences now as an adult.

Aww, this is so wonderful. And that’s so nice to know that someone besides me appreciate listening such sort of music. I’m a huge fan of classical music, and your post reminds me that I should book the tickets to the Opera House. Great pictures also! I hope you’ve spent and amazing time there.

Venue is beautiful and it sounds like it was so much fun!

  13. February 19, 2017 / 7:56 pm

There is something so raw and moving about a live orchestra, like you said, you can completely loose yourself in the music. I like your outfit for the occasion too, especially this black jacket

It has been such a Long time since I stepped into a concert hall for a performance like that and I think I really miss the experience of a live performance.

You night looked so wonderful. I think your look was perfect for a night at the orchestra. I have never been to an orchestra and I think it would be a wonderful time. Your food and drinks also looked great and really added to your experience I’m sure. What a way to end the night.

  16. February 20, 2017 / 2:35 am

It looks like such a magical experience. I’m usually a visual person so it’s hard for me to stay awake during orchestras. I attended a few when I was in college because of my student discount, but haven’t been to one ever since. I really should go to one since I live so close by to one now.

I know what you mean!! I recently also attended a symphony at one of the events downtown. The music is nothing like we’re use to hearing. It’s the magic of being able to see music come to life right in front of your eyes – i was in awe when I realized all these different instruments played together so harmoniously and it was just absolutely beautiful. I’m so glad you enjoyed your time there! It’s really something people have to attend and see/hear at least once in their life time

  18. February 20, 2017 / 3:37 pm

It sounds like such an amazing experience! I’ve never been to an orchestra concert before, but I would definitely love attending a show. Have a lovely start of the week! x

It’s been a while since I attended my last orchestra event or musical but after seeing your post, I’m itching to attend one. The venue and you girls look so beautiful and I’m glad that you took detailed shots of all the members of the orchestra because they can get buried in the back and people tent to focus on the first chairs.

Haha, , I would be that guy behind or next to you who would be immensely annoyed by you using your phone during the concert. I don’t know what it’s like over there, but here every concert begins with someone announcing “please turn your cell phones off so we can all concentrate on the concert instead”… Not judging you, just saying what cultural differences might be like 🙂 With that said I immensely do enjoy concerts and probably wouldn’t note you using your phone at all since I usually listen to them with my eyes closed. 🙂 And as far as your outfit goes, it’s superb!

The sitting arrangement was design for each one of you to fully enjoy the music. Hahahaha I was recording close to my chest and totally wasn’t distracting anyone. As you know bloggers will be bloggers lol. And that’s me. I think he was just a perfectionist and probably not on isntagram. lol I’ll take note when you come for a visit to put my phone away! “

  29. February 22, 2017 / 9:29 pm

Sounds like an amazing experience! I recently watched an orchestra play live alongside the Harry Potter movie. It was absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing this. The venue also looks amazing!

  30. February 22, 2017 / 10:28 pm

    Hi babe,
Aww i love performances like this and you look adorable..

  31. February 23, 2017 / 10:29 am

This was such a great date night with your friend. I’ve never been to an orchestra like this, but I have been to musicals and ballet plays. I could imagine how the music flows magically and how it makes you feel like you’re in heaven. I love the experience and would love to come to an orchestra like this.

As far as using your phone in the concert, I feel like I have to side with that guy here babe. hehe just imagine if someone is recording on their phone in a movie theater in front of you when you’re trying to watch the movie. They don’t make any noise, but the little bright screen could be very distracting when people behind are trying to watch the musicians and relax to the music 🙂

Hi Love! Thank you so much. Tho as for the guy it was bright inside the hall so I don’t think the light would affect him nor distract anyone. As for me recording it was infront of my chest and definitely not distracting anyone. As a lifestyle blogger it is important to get your readers to experience how it is there. I was there to help people fall Inlove with this kind of music. As it is something very special to me. I hope that clears everything and why I was frustrated. I took every precaution to not disturb anyone but you can’t always please everyone.

  32. February 23, 2017 / 2:39 pm

Wow! looks like you had a wonderful night! That venue is majestic, totally appropriate for such talented musicians. hahaha, the fact about the guy near you, that was funny!
Thanks for sharing this experience , a peaceful and relaxing moment with the sound of music.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

  33. February 27, 2017 / 11:14 am

As someone who has played an instrument all my life through college and having played in a Chamber Orchestra myself, I absolutely love these types of evenings! It’s such a special experience to wholly devote our attention and senses to appreciating such beautiful music. How lucky you are to have experienced this, and with an amazing choral repertoire no less! And kudos on finding that fab Mexican place- what a way to end such a night 🙂 Thanks for sharing babe!
