Dedon Island or now called Nay Palad Hideaway is probably one of the dreamiest places on earth to visit and a vacation destination where they are promoting a barefoot luxury – ” You never need a wallet at Nay Palad Hideway. No checks are signed here. Every drink or delicacy you desire, every adventure you seek, every massage you require, is simply yours for the asking. Around-the-clock attention? As you wish. Total privacy? Just say the word. Barefoot luxury is a made-to-measure experience ” My visit to this place is still probably one of the highlights of my 2017.
This was my first time travelling to Siargao, Philippines. I honestly did not know what to expect. I haven’t been back in the Philippines for 2 years after moving to Canada. I was in Manila & Boracay prior to travelling here. For this trip, I decided to travel alone. I needed some time to think and explore Siargao. I was to meet an assistant I hired to help me capture photos/footage for this trip upon arriving. However, Upon boarding the plane I was greeted by a long time friend whom I haven’t seen since I left – Maxine – She just finished competing at that time in Miss Universe representing the Philippines and got into the top 5, a trip that was meant to be explored alone has become a big group, I joined her group of friends and I think it was the best decision ever, we both stayed for a week on the Island and had the most fun exploring it all together, we were also able to catch-up what has seemed to be a lifetime of not seeing each other. It was just so insane how wherever we go people would jump on her asking for photos ( Miss Universe is a big deal back home, comparable to a national sport like Basketball or Kim Kardashian in the US and Hockey for Canada ) I remember the day when we both met back in 2009, we were both starting out Modeling in Asia and have become friends in an instant.
One of the places we visited was Nay Palad Hideaway. We had the most stunning Villa we had for the day. During the time of our visit, we were the only ones on the island which literally feels like we owned the resort for that day. Upon checking in, we explored our villa which was one of the biggest one available. We also had our breakfast by the pool with fresh fruits and the yummiest Coconut juice. After pool time, we were escorted to a private lunch area facing the gorgeous view of the sea. The food was beautifully presented and truly a feast to remember. The staff are very accommodating and always with the kindest smile on their faces. After Lunch, we headed to the beach to work on our tan, after an hour or two we were taken to the Spa area. The Spa area was nothing but pure serenity and nature, the Spa huts were seating in the heart of somewhat jungle and you can hear birds chirping, the sound of the wind blowing the leaves on the trees. Upon walking into the Spa, we were greeted with two flower baths to start our pampering then we were treated to an hour of heavenly massage. I fell asleep during this time as it was that good.
By the time we finished, it was already time for sunset. We had to go to the Pagoda to watch the sunset with our wine and cheese waiting for us. It was also perfect that the water has become a high tide. We had to paddle board or kayak to get to the pagoda. Marc chose to paddle board while Maxine and I decided to kayak together. With lots of laughter along the way, we made it just in time when the sun is magically setting. The water was so clear and it was so inviting to swim. The water wasn’t cold at all. It was just a Perfect day. I couldn’t ask for more. How I wish I had more time in the beautiful island of Siargao.
