The next day, we woke up at 6:30 am and got ready for the 2nd day with Ford Canada. We were set to go to the race track covered with Ice and do some Winter Defense driving course with NASCAR drivers. On top of that, we also were driven by the NASCAR drivers to experience hat laps and off road driving(really fast crazy drive on ICE!) and end the trip with Dog sledding.
At 8 am we were set to leave for our busy day. I couldn’t believe it was already time to say Goodbye to Esterel Resort, We didn’t get to see much of the resort yet as we also arrived at night and wasn’t able to use the heated pools. Hopefully next time when we come back. On Summer perhaps?
The breakfast selection in the hotel was so good and fresh. With too much selection and little time to eat as I got to the table at 7:50! I ate in less than 5 minutes. I managed to squeezed my fresh orange juice, got my sunny side up egg and some croissant.
By 8:05 we’re on the highway, very excited for what the day has to offer. The drive took us about 2 hours to get to our destination.
We arrived around 10:15 to Mecaglisse, Circuits De Sports Motorisés
The roads were pretty scary and icy…
But the view is spectacular.
As soon as we arrived we were introduced to our designated NASCAR drivers to teach us the defence driving and to drive us to off road and hat laps. The Teacher I got is the one wearing eyeglasses (above). He was very nice, he actually inspire to get back into driving (I stopped a year ago when I failed my last test for getting my full license, now I’m set to take it again this spring before leaving for Asia)
His name is Claude Bourbonnais, a former driver in the Toyota Atlantic, Indy Lights, and CARTChampionship Car series. He raced in the 1994 CART series with 5 starts. He also raced in the 1997 Indianapolis 500, which by then had become part of the Indy Racing League, completing 9 laps and finishing in 30th position.
He has been working for major car manufacturer in USA doing demonstration drives and was also a driver coach in the American Ferrari Challenge. (from his own wikipedia)
Before we got busy driving, we needed a group photo showcasing our matching hats, socks and shoes. We didn’t plan to match at all. It was all unplanned!
And nope we’re not trying to push Sydney…
we also didn’t know what we were looking at below. LOL
Mr.Cavaliere in his glory!
Now time to get serious…
I was partnered with Sydney to do the driving…
First I was really scared but then Claude made sure everything is alright… and boy did I speed up fast and it was so fun! The icy roads made it more challenging but surely worth it.
This is me on our first car we tried
And then me in the escape.
Next was the crazy Ford Raptor ….
Just look at the roads and the speed was crazy fast too! I’m sure the NASCAR drivers had fun scaring us. haha
We also had to wear helmets as it is very jumpy inside the car.
Last one was the hat laps…
Just look at that… It is very dangerous for a normal person like me, but I’m sure for the drivers it was just an ordinary day…
Isnt that fun?
After Lunch we headed out as the dogs for sledging have been waiting for us.
I was the first one on the line, I was also the last one to leave…
The weatehr was extremely cold and it was raining too. I couldnt really take a proper photo from my camera as it keeps fogging up… It was also very wet and fast which makes it more difficult.
It was so much more fun in real life…
They’re Alaskan Husky
They’re very friendly too.
I couldn’t wish for a better way to end our trip with FORD.
It was truly a dream come true
I still can’t believe this has been now over! I can’t wait to explore Yukon and Iceland next winter! when winter started I was really sad because of the cold, but I challeneged myself to get out there and enjoyed it. It was really fun! So I truly advise getting out of your comfort zone, you’ll never know the fun you’re actually missing out.
At 1pm everyone headed back to the Airport to go back to Toronto, As for me I had to stay another day in Montreal to visit my agency and explore old Montreal…
Onto the next blog post…
