Wow, 27! I don’t even know where to start. It feels like it was only yesterday that I turned 23 and was celebrating in Disneyland Hong Kong without even knowing that my life is about to change that in the span of 6 months I moved to Toronto, Canada. I have never imagined myself living in Canada. I always know in my heart I will either live in England where all my family is from and living now or somewhere in the Philippines sipping coconuts with a big beach house facing a pure white sand beach somewhere in between Siargao or Palawan but never in a million years in cold Toronto, Canada.
Upon moving here I was actually surprised to be blown away how diverse the culture is, wherever I go I hear people speaking in their own language, most likely 20 different languages in a day. People are very nice and say ‘Sorry” often enough even when it’s your fault bumping into them. People respect one another and most citizen here have a big heart. The Prime Minister is young and probably one of the most good-looking politicians out there that every time I visit the Philippines people often ask how is the Prime Minister as if we’re good friends and talk about how handsome he is. Aside from the amazing country Canada is with its amazing laws and making sure its people first, it’s home to the most beautiful natural sceneries in the world. It’s definitely a great country to live in. Toronto, on the other hand, is one of the most successful cities in Canada. It is often compared to New York City as it’s very similar in terms of business, architectural, the growing fashion community and did I say amazing restaurants out here? One of them is my favourite place to go is Lavelle, a rooftop pool, patio, bar and restaurant situated on top of 627 King Street West. I knew right away this would be the place to celebrate my birthday with people who helped and have been part of my blogging career. They kindly accommodated me and 24 of my friends Last October 31st. The place is the perfect venue hosting my Great Gatsby Birthday Theme, it has the beautiful 360 view of Toronto with the CN tower. In summer they host pool parties as they have a lovely pool on their rooftop. It was definitely a dream come true! Their Executive Chef Romain Avril is one of the first people I interviewed for my blog when I was starting out. A big thank you to Jessica and Chef Romain for making this event happen!
The party started around 5:30 pm which started by taking photos at the gorgeous rooftop. It was a very cold day but luckily it didn’t rain as it’s been raining during that week. Everyone showed up looking all so glam and in their best Great Gatsby outfits. After the photo taking, we headed inside to take a couple more photos on Lavelle’s famous lips wall which is btw identical to Kylie Jenner’s new wallpaper! FYI Lavelle had it first before Kylie. From there we started the drinks in the main room and waited for more people to come before we could start our dinner which was prepared by Chef Morgan Bellis who accommodated a special meal for my vegan friends. The Staff at Lavelle are very attentive and accommodating. They always make sure you are having the best experience and service.
Once everyone arrived, We made a toast and I did a little speech which made me cry a little bit as I felt so much love from my friends. I still can’t believe how much I have grown since I moved to Toronto, despite it being so cold during the winter months and the growing pains I have to endure during the first 2 years of moving here, It was totally worth it. It taught me responsibility, running a business, how to get out of your comfort zone and live the Canadian dream! and most of all it taught me to love again and be loved. I received Choco – my cockapoo as my birthday present. Pictured HERE hanging out while I pack the goodie bags. He taught me that I could love more and even tho he’s still young he’s already showing sign how much he loves me.
Anyhoo, going back to the event before I start crying again (I guess getting older makes you more sensitive and emotional too) After the toast and speech, the dinner was served. I’m so happy that everyone got along so well. After dinner, the group headed outside for some photos with me and upon going back in I was greeted by my birthday dessert, oh boy did I wish so many things upon blowing my birthday candle. Is that even allowed? Everyone enjoyed their S’Mores dessert! It was so good. After the dinner, some people already said their goodbyes, some stayed for more drinks and laughter. It was definitely a magical night and looking forward to more birthdays to come. Although I might have to say this will be the last time I will announce how old I am. I still feel that young 23-year-old girl but smarter and definitely more refined.
Upon leaving my guests received a goodie bag from some of the brands from the PR company I have worked with this year. The bag and sugarfina candies were provided by Nordstrom Toronto, some lashes, nails and lipgloss from Kiss, EOS lip balms, Garnier moisturizer and toner, Makeup products from NYX Canada, Conditioner from Matrix, Shampoo and Conditioner from Marc Anthony, Essie Nail Polishes, Body fantasies body spray and some Scünci hair accessories together with really cute Flickable lip gloss.
How was your birthday this year? What did you learn and would wish to change in the next year?
*PS: Lavelle is throwing a kick-ass NYE party if you’re in Toronto! Definitely a place to be ringing 2018
The gorgeous view at Lavelle.
This gorgeous couple whom I adore so much! check out their blogs at Monika & Jeremiah. They also gave me a gorgeous necklace from Stillnest called Globetrotter which they accompanied with the sweetest birthday card (PS: giving thoughtful cards is a big thing in Canada) I am obsessed with this necklace and surely inspired me to travel more in 2018!
My gorgeous babes! Rachel (3rd on the left) is also one of my sweetest friends who always listens to me even tho I complain so much about little things, It’s also always fun going to events when I’m with her. And Kristin Beside Filipa (wearing red) whom I met online I think only a week when I started blogging, she’s always so kind and sweet, did I mention she just had a baby? and shes already a #bodygoals

Pictured here is Nick with his Beau who inspired me to become vegetarian (he’s vegan tho!)
Tania is probably one of the gorgeous girls I’ve met in Toronto who occasionally take my puppy Choco when I’m off galavanting in another country. She’s a sweetheart whom I cherish dearly. You can check her out HERE! She’s a kickass professional snowboarder.
The super Yummy Menu prepared by Lavelle.
