Last June we went to Riviera Maya, Mexico to celebrate the love of Filipa (www.playingwithapparel.com) and her husband (now) Sameer for their wedding. I of course wouldn’t miss it for the world ( Thank God she invited me and my beau!).
I never had the time to go thru the 10k photos I took during that whole week. So only now that I can show you! Sorry for the delay but I promise it won’t disappoint. I am posting 5 episode from this trip, I hope you’re not hungry as all the photos I took was all about the food. I barely had time to pose in a bikini as I was busy trying everything from Azul Fives .
We left Toronto late afternoon and arrived at Cancun Airport at night time and was picked up by our own bus (perks of destination wedding!) to travel to Playa Del Carmen for almost 2 hours ride.
TIP: DO NOT LOSE YOUR TRAVEL CARD LIKE I DID! I LOST IT RIGHT AFTER GOING OUT OF THE AIRPORT! (SO ME) I HAD TO PAY $50 BEFORE LEAVING MEXICO AND I HAD TO GO THRU THE PROCESS BEFORE I CAN LINE UP AT THE CHECK IN COUNTER.
Anyhow going back to my story,
The next morning we woke up with this view….
It’s also my first time going to Mexico.
It feels like home right away.
This was our 2nd room that they gave us the next day as the location and situation of our first room was very unpleasant. The lock on our balcony could not lock and we were situated right at the first floor where anyone can walk in. The rooms are all sold out and this room had a two bedroom which they had to compress together to make a big giant bed fit for a princess like me! lol the situation maybe unpleasant but they made it up with their amazing food and amenities. They were also giving us a chance to stay in another hotel of theirs with much better room walking out with your own private indoor pool looking out the ocean, BUT we can’t abandon our friends. We wouldn’t want to be separated with our awesome crew.
After un packing, we were ready to explore and EAT and EAT ALL DAY.
Every morning they have this stall open for all the hotel guest, serving fresh made TACOS ! Talk about mexican food!(if you’re in a all inclusive plan you’ll have your own card to be carry around and show to any place to get food and drinks anytime you desire)
With some fresh Guacamole I can eat this all for myself but of course I didn’t, instead I went to the buffet and had a fair share of my guacamole in my own little corner. #smart
They also have this drink made of rice, which is sweet and has a little nutty note in it.
And I tried it too.
After a big big breakfast we headed out the hammock area just behind the massage area facing the sea.
If you’re curious about my tan I had it sprayed by Schulz Beauty.
We spent quite some time here with our mojitos all morning, listening to the waves and meet some iguanas checking us out in our hammock.
After 12, we decided it’s time to make our way to Oriola grill bar to get some more tacos and guacamole.
We were seated by the table facing the beach.
They have a Salad bar and Make your own Ceviche!
Ofocurse when in Mexico you do what mexican do before having any food! Tequila time!
A bag of crisps and more guacamole and mojito.
Beau opted for the steak
And I ordered deep fried shrimp chipotle sauce! I think I had about 3 rounds of this that day. The shrimp were really big. It was so good and it was the only thing I keep going back for more, well except the burgers and other things too.
After lunch we went back to our spot to nap and well digest everything we just ate.
Around 3pm we decided to head back to our room to freshen up and take a nap before dinner time. (I told you it’s all about the food)
We had a great time exploring the hotel where we have our own Cenote. I have been hearing about all this cenotes around mexico and I was just so happy.
I also made some friends along the way. How cute are they? really?
For dinner we opt out for the mediterranean place beside Oriola, too bad Oriola only opens during lunch.
We started with some frozen margarita
Steak again for the beau.
And some Salmon for me with pistachio sauce . And yes we didn’t even have to worry about the bill! Everything was part of the All inclusive, the food and restaurant are 5 stars! truly won’t disappoint.
See you again for more Mexico adventures coming your way!
